You might be coming to Australia for a holiday, but if you want to work while you are here, you need to be prepared for an interview. Here are a few tips:

• For women: invest in a nice jacket and smart pair of shoes (or be extra smart and bring them with you when you come to Australia). For men: bring a suit or tailored shirts and trousers.
• Dress conservatively when meeting a recruiter (no low cut tops, very short skirts, jeans with rips, singlet tops or thongs)
• If you have long hair, tie it back. Women, keep makeup natural and light.
• If you have facial piercings and you want to work in an office, consider taking the piercings out before the interview.
• Cover tattoos.

It might seem silly when you are thinking about short term temporary work, but first impressions are important, and if it’s office work you are looking to do, you need to look the part.
